Sudbury's Outdoor Skating Rink Opens After Deep Freeze
Extreme cold across Massachusetts helped set up the rink at Featherland Park.

SUDBURY, MA — The ice skating area at Sudbury's Featherland Park is now open, boosted by recent extreme cold.
Each winter, Sudbury Parks and Recreation typically fills a square parking lot area with water for the skating area. Temperatures dropped into the single digits on Monday and into Wednesday morning following a relatively warm, rainy start to the winter.
The rink is typically open during park hours and has lights for after-sunset skating. The parks department announced the opening on Wednesday morning.

The upcoming weather pattern should keep the rink frozen for at least the next week. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures may rise into the 40s on Thursday, but will dip to single digits on Friday night (just 2 degrees in Sudbury) with highs of 12 and 26 on Saturday and Sunday.
The Featherland Park rink is located near the main park entrance at Morse and Concord roads.
