Support Nam, Fontes For Goodnow Library Board: Letter

We are writing to express our support for Jean Nam and Katina Fontes, candidates for Goodnow Library Trustees. Both Jean and Katina have extensive experience with, and a deep commitment to, the Sudbury community. Jean has served on town boards, including FinCom, worked on Storywalks and other community improvement programs, and currently co-manages the Goodnow Library Foundation’s Book Nook. Katina has served on the Wayside Inn Foundation, the Sudbury Historical Society and is currently on the Sudbury Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission. Both are very familiar with all aspects of our town’s strengths and needs; both have demonstrated the experience necessary to help ensure Goodnow Library’s continued excellence.

As residents of Sudbury and patrons of the Goodnow Library for 45 years, we have benefited from a remarkable improvement in programs, collections, visitor experience and our beautiful building. Goodnow is in the middle of a major transformation from a “warehouse for books” to its current role as a community resource for all Sudbury residents in the information age. This evolution has included the Sara Sherman NOW lab’s dedicated makerspace and Teen Study Week (both first in the State). In addition, there are all new visitor computers, an upgrade in the Children’s Room, a new teen area, and a soon to be completed Historical Room Renovation. Under the excellent leadership of Esme Green and her dedicated staff, our Goodnow Library is recognized as one of the best libraries in Massachusetts.

This election is important. The continued growth and excellence of the Goodnow Library requires outstanding Trustees, as does the re-establishment of the relationship with the Friends. We have no doubt that Katina and Jean offer the best combination of expertise, commitment, and energy necessary to maintain and enhance our Town treasure. Please vote for Jean Nam and Katina Fontes for Goodnow Library Trustee.
