Volunteers Wanted For Sudbury Commission On Disability

SUDBURY, MA — Residents interested in improving accessibility and inclusion in town have a new opportunity to get involved.

The Sudbury Commission on Disability is seeking volunteers to fill several openings. Members research barriers affecting people with disabilities and advise town staff, officials and boards on making facilities, programs, services and communications more accessible.

The commission also connects residents, businesses and town departments with disability-related resources, services and technical assistance. It works with the Massachusetts Office on Disability and local organizations on education and community programs.

People with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply. The commission also welcomes applicants without disabilities who have relevant experience, including work with people with disabilities or inclusive design in buildings, services or communications.

The commission typically meets on the first Thursday of each month, with additional meetings held as needed. Members also work independently or through subcommittees between meetings.

Applications are available through the town’s boards and commissions portal.
