Warriors Lacrosse Kick Off 'High School Rivalry Series' At Harvard Stadium

Lincoln-Sudbury High School is taking on Longmeadow in a new rivalry series hosted by the Boston Cannons.

SUDBURY, MA—The Lincoln-Sudbury lacrosse team was given the honor of being chosen to play at Harvard Stadium on May 6 in the Boston Cannons first-ever “High School Rivalry Series” games.

The Boston Cannons announced that the team will host the first-ever “High School Rivalry Series” at select home games this season, featuring matchups of top high school lacrosse programs in Massachusetts playing before the Cannons take the field at Harvard Stadium, said the announcement.

The series was created to celebrate the ever-increasing high school lacrosse talent in Massachusetts and will begin prior to the Cannons home opener on May 6 at 7 p.m. against the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

“We are very excited to host the first every rivalry series at Harvard Stadium this year,” said Cannons President Ian Frenette in a statement. “Massachusetts has become a hotbed of lacrosse at all levels and it’s our goal to showcase the great teams and players in our scholastic ranks. Both games will feature the top high school teams in the state and will undeniably be entertaining games.”

In this first game, state champs the Warriors take on rivals Longmeadow High School at 3:30 p.m.

The rivalry dates back to the 1970s, the announcement continues, with both programs having tremendous success over the past five decades. The Lincoln-Sudbury team has a long history of All-Americans including three former Cannons now in their hall of fame; Brendan Glass ‘93, Kevin O’Brien ’94, and Jake Beebe ‘05.

“These are two of the oldest programs in the state. Both teams Coaches have spent their life trying to grow this game,” said Lincoln-Sudbury Head Coach Brian Vona in a statement. “To be a part of this is pretty special.”

Fans can purchase a “High School Rivalry Series” game General Admission ticket and Cannons Gold Section ticket for $30. General Admission tickets just for the High School games with no admission to the Cannons game are $15.
