Weekend Happenings: Inexpensive Options Near Home

Sculpture, music and more are our picks for this weekend's entertainment.

When/Where: Available for check-out from Wayland Public Library, 5 Concord Road, Wayland.

The Buzz: Several local libraries (including  in Sudbury and the Acton Memorial Library) have passes to area museums and parks that can save you money on everything from admission to parking. You check out the passes just like you would a book. Pick them up before your outing and return them by the next day. The Wayland Public Library has added a couple of new passes this summer including a Boston By Foot pass that offers member privileges for up to four people on a regularly scheduled tour. Another new pass for the Harvard Museum of Natural History offers reduced admission for up to four people.

When/Where: Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at deCordova Sculpture Park, 51 Sandy Pond Road, Lincoln.

The Buzz: The Highland Street Foundation sponsors this summer-long program that allows visitors to peruse some artwork while enjoying a fabulous outdoor setting. Parking and capacity is limited, so go early if you want to get in.

When/Where: Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at Acton Jazz Cafe, 452 Great Rd, Acton.

The Buzz: Wendee Glick and Friends, No Soap Radio and Jeff Purchon and Friends will entertain crowds at the Acton Jazz Cafe this weekend.
