SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott High School is bringing back a familiar face, and former rival, as its new varsity boys basketball coach.
Swampscott Athletic Director Kelly Wolff said Paul Moran, a lifelong Swampscott resident who recently coached the girls basketball team at Marblehead High School, will be the next head of the Big Blue boys program.
Moran has also been the boys basketball coach at Saugus High School.
"Paul has an obvious passion for the game, the ability to motivate student-athletes, and can build positive connections within the community," Wolff said in announcing the hire.
She said Moran was selected from a talented pool of candidates.
"The screening committee was impressed with Coach Moran's knowledge of the game of basketball, and commitment to the students in Swampscott and the town as a whole," Wolff said. "We look forward to seeing the program continue to grow with Coach Moran at the helm."
