• Flood study outlines options for Swampscott (itemlive.com) — Swampscott officials are weighing early options to protect Fisherman’s Beach, the historic Fish House, and Puritan Road seawalls from increasingly frequent coastal flooding and sea level rise. A preliminary study funded with ARPA money outlines ideas from higher seawalls and raised parking lots to relocating or elevating the Fish House, with more modeling and community outreach still to come.
• Swampscott goes ham for radio club (itemlive.com) — Students at Swampscott High School are building a unique Ham Radio Club that lets them talk with operators worldwide and even track satellites, all from a classroom station. Backed by a national grant and FCC club license, the group is blending hands-on engineering, communication skills, and global connections, with hopes of expanding into science classes and lasting for years.
• Swampscott-Based SPUR Launches School Supply Drive For 650 North Shore Students (patch.com) — A Swampscott-based nonprofit, SPUR, has kicked off its Student Success Drive to provide school supplies for more than 650 students in Swampscott, Lynn, Marblehead, and Salem. Working with counselors and food pantries, SPUR buys discounted supplies through Staples in Vinnin Square so every child starts school prepared and confident, and is asking local residents to sponsor students online.
