SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott residents and visitors will face road closures and parking restrictions on Friday as the town prepares for fireworks and large crowds.
Road closures will begin at 6 p.m., and parking restrictions will begin at 2 p.m.
The road closures will affect Humphrey Street from Eastern Avenue at the Lynn line to Redington Street, all of Monument Avenue, Burrill Street from Monument Avenue to Paradise Road, Elmwood Road from Monument Avenue to Paradise Road, all of Shaw Road, all of Andrew Road, all of Thomas Road and all of Hardy Road.
Parking restrictions will take effect at 2 p.m. on both sides of several streets.
The restricted areas are Humphrey Street from Eastern Avenue at the Lynn line to Redington Street, all of Monument Avenue, Burrill Street from Monument Avenue to Paradise Road, Elmwood Road from Monument Avenue to Paradise Road, all of Redington Street, all of Sheridan Road, all of Thomas Road, all of Banks Road, portions of Walker Road, and Farragut Road from Ellis Road to Walker Road.
Vehicles left on those streets after 2 p.m. are subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense. Handicap parking will be available at the Hadley School lot on Redington Street, with limited availability.
Public parking will be available at Phillips Park/Football Field, also with limited availability.
Large crowds are expected and encouraged families to talk to children about safety and make a plan in case they become separated.
