Swamptober Fest Suspended For 2026

Town Administrator Nick Connors said the annual townwide celebration will not happen next month.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Swampscott downtown party known as Swamptoberfest will take at least a year off this September.

Town Administrator Nick Connors said the event will not happen because of its strain on town staff, so it can be reimagined for a possible future return.

"The event depends heavily on town staff's capacity as well as the yacht club," Connors said. "This year, we decided to take a year off and work in partnership to see if we can reimagine an even better event for next year. We will be back to you in the future to talk about that a little bit."

Swampscott residents and visitors will have a chance to spend part of this Sunday afternoon at the Humphrey Street Block Party 2026.

The community party is scheduled for 3 p.m. Organizers said the event will bring live music, food, beer vendors and more than 40 makers and artisans to Humphrey Street.

People are encouraged to visit the beach first, including renting a paddle board, and then head to Humphrey Street for the afternoon gathering.

Live performances are planned with A Turtle on a String and the Boomerangs. Food and beer vendors will also be part of the event, along with a lineup of makers and artisans.

Attendees are also encouraged to visit businesses throughout the Humphrey Street area.
