Swampscott Plans Sept. 11 Ceremony On 25th Anniversary Of Attacks

Residents are invited to gather Sept. 11 at Swampscott Fire Station for a 25th anniversary remembrance ceremony.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott residents are invited to gather at the Swampscott Fire Station on Friday, Sept. 11 for a community remembrance ceremony marking 25 years since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The ceremony will be held at 76 Burrill Street, with attendees asked to arrive by 9:45 a.m. The program is scheduled to begin at 9:55 a.m., according to the town's announcement.

The event is intended to remember those who died, honor first responders and reflect on the response that followed the attacks.

"The Town of Swampscott invites our community to come together on Friday, September 11, 2026, as we remember the lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of our first responders, and reflect on the strength and unity shown in the wake of September 11, 2001," the town said.

The program will feature the Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem, an interfaith reflection, a moment of silence at 10:03 a.m., the reading of local names, the Striking of the Four Fives Memorial Bell Ceremony and remarks.
