• First-Year Big Blue Field Hockey Coach Preaches Effort and Confidence (swampscotttides.org) — Swampscott High's field hockey team just dropped a 4–1 decision to Beverly, but new head coach Stephen Strange is stressing effort, confidence, and learning from early setbacks. With ten seniors and several underclassmen logging big minutes, he believes the Big Blue are close to turning things around as they grind through a busy stretch of games this week.
   

• Swampscott Cultural Council Opens Grant Applications (swampscotttides.org) — Swampscott artists, educators, and community groups can now apply for Cultural Council grants supporting local performances, school programs, and other arts and humanities projects, with applications due October 15. Proposals that are accessible to Swampscott residents and enrich community life are especially encouraged, and full guidelines plus the online application are available through the Massachusetts Cultural Council website.
   

• Glover plans hit a speed bump (marbleheadweeklynews.com) — Plans to redevelop the historic Glover estate into 140 apartments, including 96 units in Swampscott, hit a delay as the Planning Board continued its hearing for more traffic, drainage, and access information. While officials like the updated design and preservation of the General John Glover Farmhouse, they say they cannot responsibly approve the project until key studies and documents are complete.
