SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott will put up a framed replica of a key founding document on public display at the Elihu Thomson Administration Building next week.
The Declaration of Independence replica, secured as a gift from State Rep. Jenny Armini, will be unveiled Monday at 2:45 p.m. at the administration building. The unveiling marks the first public display of the document there.
The replica is part of a local effort to highlight a piece of the nation's founding story in a public setting. A grant from Big Blue Bargains to the Swampscott Historical Commission funded museum-quality framing for the document.
The framing was intended to highlight the document's significance.
The first display will take place at the Elihu Thomson Administration Building, giving residents and school community members a chance to see the framed replica in Swampscott.
The framed document is expected to then begin a rotation among Swampscott's three public schools.
