A new bookstore is coming to the old Borders Express location; and a deal is in the works to bring a Mexican restaurant next door.

Local readers need not weep.

Thespace that housed Borders Express will soon hold another bookstore.

The owner of Spirit of '76 bookstore in Marblehead will open an additional bookstore at the Paradise Road location, said Terri Desjardins of Centercorp Retail Properties, property manager for the Swampscott Mall.

Desjardin does know what the name of the new store will be but said it will open by Nov. 1.

Negotiations are underway to bring Chipotle Mexican Grill to the other side, the property manager said.

On Monday afternoon a worker was hauling bookshelves into the space that will be the new bookstore.

Outside, workers were installing new curbing and a sidewalk.

Crews are also matching the exterior to that of the adjoining buinesses in the L-shaped strip of businesses.

closed last month, leaving Swampscott without a bookstore.

The national bookseller is liquidating, and announced in July  that it would close its remaining 400 stores.
