HAWC (Healing Abuse Working for Change) - Afternoon of Tea Fundraiser at Marian Court College on April 28th

Fundraiser for HAWC: Come join us for a fun afternoon of tea, sandwiches, dessert and a chance to experience an alternative healing session or a spirtual reading.

Amanda Brawley, a Swampscott resident and Realtor with Jack Conway Realtor, is teaming up with Marian Court College to help raise funds for HAWC by hosting the 2nd Annual HAWC Afternoon of Tea Fundraiser.

HAWC (Healing Abuse Working for Change, formerly known as Help for Abused Women and their Children) is the oldest and the most comprehensive domestic violence agency on the Massachusetts' North Shore. HAWC provides services and support to victims of domestic violence residing in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts' North Shore, including Swampscott.

This event supports Brawley’s mission to give back to her community by helping to make social change.   By taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression as well as helping to end bullying in our community, she supports HAWC and all their efforts.  HAWC plays a significant role helping Swampscott residents with Domestic Violence and Abuse issues.  Brawley stated that “HAWC is an organization that is near and dear to her heart.  The help HAWC provides to the residents of Swampscott is significant.”

“What is interesting,” Brawley states, “is that per capita, Swampscott has a high utilization rate of HAWC services, but as a community, we do not provide much return support to this organization.”  She attributes this lack of support as an awareness issue.  Most individuals in the Swampscott community receiving help from HAWC are not sharing their experiences, thus this organization that gives so much, goes mostly unrecognized.

Latest statistics report that 1 in 4 women will experience abuse in their lifetime.  Bullying is something that is happening in our schools.  Given this prevalence, violence impacts every aspect of our community.   By raising awareness to these issues, we are collectively taking a stand against bullying in our community.

This year’s event will be taking place on April 28, 2013 from 1pm – 4pm at Marian Court College.  By making a $50 donation to HAWC, you will enjoy tea, sandwiches, dessert and a healing or reading session in the company of others who want to make a difference in our community by ending domestic abuse.  It is a chance to experience an alternative healing session through one of the modalities that are available such as Reiki, Polarity and Energy Healing to name a few.  Or if you prefer a spiritual reading, you can choose a reading with a physic, tarot card reader or soul card reader.

Marian Court College, located directly on the Atlantic Ocean in picturesque Swampscott will serve as the perfect venue for this special event.  This event is limited to 100 guests, so please make your donations ASAP (but no later than April 1st).  For more information or to reserve your ticket(s), please contact afternoontea428@gmail.com

In addition, Brawley is hoping that this event will continue to be a kick off for the Annual HAWC WALK/RUN, which will take place on May 5th 2013 at the Salem Commons.  Please visit the website at www.hawcdv.org to get more information.
