As the economy continues to struggle through difficult times, organizations
such as the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless are working harder than ever to help the most vulnerable members of the community. Founded in 1981, the agency has worked to embed homelessness prevention resources in community health centers, public schools, and in-home early intervention programs.

When the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and SocialRaise, a leading digital agency focused on nonprofit success, first connected this past summer the discussions centered around how SocialRaise could help the Coalition achieve its goals to enhance advocacy efforts by first raising awareness; then increasing revenue through stronger engagement with its constituent base and fundraising efforts; and, in general, improve web site traffic.

The Solution
After initial introductions and discovery, it became clear that the two organizations could make for a perfect partnership and so the discussions continued. The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and SocialRaise are pleased to announce the recent launch of the Coalition’s new dynamic website - http://www.mahomeless.org.

With the new site, the Coalition hopes to increase the visibility and prevalence of
homelessness throughout the state and, perhaps more importantly, continue its
efforts to develop innovative programming and realistic solutions to ending
homelessness.

In addition to a complete redesign of the website, SocialRaise implemented a
robust Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system that allows the
Coalition to:

  • Track donations and event/ticket sales to see how much and how frequently
supporters give; see which are active in the Advocacy and Legislative action
campaigns; see which events they’ve attended/signed up for, etc.

  • Target various constituents in order to increase communication
    efficiencies

  • Foster relationships with key donors and volunteers
  •

As Robyn Frost, Executive Director, put it “With SocialRaise’s assistance the
Coalition went from an outdated website to one that reflects the breadth of our
work without having to spend exorbitant financial resources to secure.”

About the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless
    The Massachusetts
Coalition for the Homeless was the first advocacy organization in the
Commonwealth with a mission dedicated exclusively to ending homelessness. The
Coalition was founded by a group of concerned citizens who recognized that
homelessness was a complex and wide-spread problem that was affecting men, women
and children across the state. Realizing that emergency services alone could not
solve homelessness, the Coalition’s mission is to address the broader factors
that contribute to homelessness. Since our inception in 1981, the Coalition has
realized its mission through litigation, legislative advocacy and public policy,
    public education, and direct services.

The Coalition relies heavily on individual and corporate donations to help
achieve its mission, including those received through its largest fundraising
event, A Bed for Every Child Gala, which was held on May 10, 2012 at the Boston
    Harbor Hotel.
