There were a bunch of birds making a fuss around one of the evergreens next to our house a couple of weeks ago and, on closer inspection I spotted something with huge wings in the tree. I spooked it out of its perch; and then it spooked me when I realized it was an owl (I’ve never seen one that close)! It flew to a nearby cherry tree where I got these pics…pretty cool!
I was pretty sure there was a bird's nest in the evergreen (they’ve built in there before) and that the birds were trying to worry the owl away to protect the eggs. But a bird loving neighbor reminded me that it's early for birds to be nesting and that the birds was just trying to get the owl to leave a area they enjoy themselves. Nature at its finest. :)
BTW...the third photo was doctored up by my brother who noted that these were no doubt angry birds. He's a funny guy!
