'Fallen Heroes' Tribute Coming To Swampscott Town Hall
The display will include photos and stories about Massachusetts servicemembers who have died in military service since Sept. 11, 2001.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Placards featuring stories and photos about all the Massachusetts servicemembers who have lost their lives in military service since Sept. 11, 2001 will be on display at Swampscott Town Hall as part of the "Field of Heroes" tribute set for Friday.
A ceremony to commemorate the tribute will be held at 6 p.m.
"It is essential that we continue to honor the memories of those we have lost, and to let their families know that we will never forget the service and sacrifice of their fallen hero," said Sarah Sweeney, Executive Director of the Military Friends Foundation and Army Wife.

A wreath for each branch of service will also be placed to honor the more than 37,000 Massachusetts Servicemembers who have given their lives since the Revolutionary War.
The display will be available for the public to view through Memorial Day.

The Marine Corps League Honorable Few will host a remembrance event for Swampscott native Captain Jennifer Harris who was killed in combat in Iraq. The event will take place on the corner of Windsor/Foster at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Swampscott's Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at Swampscott Town Cemetery in the Veterans Section at 10 a.m. The keynote speaker is Boston Marathon Hero and Command Sergeant Major Bernard Madore.
CSM Madore is a combat veteran and received the Soldiers Medal from the Department of Defense for his heroic actions that saved lives after the marathon bombing.
The VFW Post Auxillary 1240 will host a reception following the ceremony at 8 Pine Street.
