Gas/Convenience Store Reopening
Selectmen have OK'd beer and wine sales for a new Essex Street store at the former site of Fiory's 2.
have OK’d beer and wine sales at a store to open at 357 Essex St.
The property, to be named Ares Express Market, stands across from Danvers Road, the former site of Fiory’s 2 Market.
Owner Peter Bakis was seeking the same type of license, called a common victuallers license, that the Fiory’s owner held for the old business.

He plans to sell gas and convenience items including beer and wine at the Swampscott store. It will have an office, restroom and storage space.
He told selectmen last Monday that he expects his store hours to be Monday through Saturday, 6 am to 10 pm, and Sunday, 8 am to 8 pm.
He didn’t say when the market would open.
The former Fiory’s is boarded up and it looks like the gas pumps and what's left of a former Sunoco sign will need updating.
The Ares Market will be an independent gas seller, so they won’t be selling a particular gas brand.
