Girl Scouts say, Thanks!

Everyday the Girl Scouts in Swampscott and Nahant are working hard to do good in their community. Ironically, today, many Patch readers came across a post about a conservative radio host who fears that "the Girl Scouts of America organization is turning its young members into communists and lesbian."

As we believe this topic deserves no more attention than it's already received, we'd like to tell you a little bit about what our Girl Scouts are doing right now. Yes, actually.... right now!! As I type, girls in Swampscott and Nahant are knocking on doors all over town! They're visiting your neighborhood to trick or treat -- not for candy, but so others can eat this holiday season. Last year, the outpouring of donations that our girls collected for local food pantries was outstanding. We have one hundred and thirty five girls participating in today's event, and we're hoping to have almost a dozen carloads of donations to deliver to local food pantries tonight. Our girls are working hard to do something good for their community, and they are so lucky to live in a community where they are supported in all their endeavors. So we'd like to take a minute, today especially, to say thanks to our community for their continued support. So... thanks!
