Have You Spoken Up for Swampscott's Future?

The Swampscott 2025 Master Plan process is underway, including a number of public forums and opportunities for residents to speak up.

So you couldn’t make it to Swampscott’s recent public forum to discuss the town’s housing, history and economic development for the Swampscott 2025 Master Plan?

No problem, the forum presentation and an opportunity for you to make your opinions heard are now available online.

The online version of the June 18 forum, the most recent in a series of four planned forums, “has been developed to allow residents, business owners and other interested parties who were unable to attend the event, an opportunity to provide feedback and inform the planning process.”

Online participants can view the presentation that was presented to attendees at Swampscott High School for the forum and then proceed through a series of “stations” showcasing the boards and information available at the forum on the topics of housing, economic development and history. At each station, online viewers are able to participate in exercises and offer feedback much as attendees at the forum were able to do.

The whole process should take 20-30 minutes to complete, including the 15-minute presenatation, according to the website.

And, in case you need to go back a bit further in the planning process, the presentation from the first forum, a visioning forum, is also now available online. In this case, too, you can check out the materials and provide your own feedback.

The third forum in the series of four is scheduled to take place July 23 at a to-be-determined location. This session, beginning at 7 p.m., will focus on transportation, public facilities and services. Prior to the forum, an open house highlighting information from the first two forums will kick off at 6:30 p.m.
