How Safe is Swampscott Compared to Other Bay State Communities?

In case you missed it during the busy week, the recent rankings were created using FBI crime data.

Swampscott was ranked one of the safest communities in the Bay State.

The personal finance service ValuePenguin ranked Swampscott No. 147 on its survey of the safest Massachusetts communities overall.

ValuePenguin created “Small Cities,” “Midsize Cities” and “Big Cities” categories for the Top 10 safest communities in the state. Though it didn’t make the top 10, Swampscott’s population of 13,995 according to ValuePenguin, would have placed the town in the “Midsize Cities” category.

Swampscott’s statistics included 186 violent crimes and 1,901 property crimes per 100,000 people.
