INTRIGUE, SCANDAL AND SPIES: ANNE DRISCOLL’S STORIES ABOUT IRELAND AND THE IRISH INNOCENCE PROJECT
Swampscott resident Anne Driscoll will speak at the Swampscott Public Library on Monday, July 14th at 7:00pm about her work with the Irish Innocence Project founded at Griffith College in Dublin in 2009. Ms. Driscoll, an investigative journalist and author who previously worked at the Justice Brandeis Innocence Project, was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to teach investigative and interviewing skills to the law students and barristers involved with the Irish Innocence Project in order to better pursue wrongful convictions and exonerate the innocent. She arrived at an interesting time in Ireland since during the 9 months she lived there, multiple scandals involving widespread illegal tape recordings by police, corruption and collusion triggered the unprecedented resignations of both the Irish Police Commissioner and the Minister of Justice. Ms. Driscoll will talk about her experiences working on these cases. Admission is free. The Swampscott Public Library is located at 61 Burrill Street, 781-596-8867.
