When’s the first day of school in Swampscott?

For families moving to Swampscott, to register your child for school in town you would go to the Swampscott schools business office, which is located at Swampscott Middle School (207 Forest Ave., Swampscott).

The parent or guardian must present the following documentation at the time of registration:

  • Birth certificate
  • Immunization record and health record
  • Proof of residency (see Page 2 of the registration packet for specific instructions about what items are required to establish residency)
  • Copy of student’s most recent report card if transferring from another school.

Additionally, a new student registration packet must be completed.

In Swampscott, children are not assigned to an elementary school based on their neighborhood. Rather, children are assigned to one of the town’s elementary schools based on “program, sibling preference and school proximity.” Class size does dictate placement as the district’s goal is to equalize class size at the three elementary schools.
