Letter: Kessler Asks for Your Vote

Glenn Kessler is running for reelection to the Swampscott Board of Selectmen.

The following was submitted to Patch.

My name is Glenn Kessler, and I am running for reelection to the Swampscott Board of Selectmen. I have lived in Precinct 5 for 19 years with my wife, Ellen, and our two daughters who attend Swampscott High School. I work for a nationally recognized facilities services company in operations and management.

During the past three years, I’ve worked closely with Swampscott residents and town officials, and I’ve gained valuable insight into critical issues affecting our town. This past year I was selectman liaison to seven committees and commissions for which I worked hard to build consensus, advocate for their causes, and above all, try to make things better for our residents.

My tenure has been and will continue to be based on two primary issues: fiscal responsibility (including our town officials developing a short and long term capital improvement and asset management plan), and attention to our aging infrastructure (storm drainage renovations, road repairs, school and town building maintenance, and others). If re-elected, I will continue to stress transparency in government and ensure that residents are included in discussions of major decisions affecting our town as I strongly believe in a robust connection between town government and its residents.

In the last three years through focused leadership and collaboration with my fellow selectmen, I have made sure that important projects were started and completed. Working closely with our town administrator, CIC and FinCom, our seawalls are stronger, our town pier is secure and drainage and water issues affecting our residents have been either initiated or addressed.

If you want to continue having a more open and accessible town administration, and if you want to have a selectman who will advocate for you, please consider voting for me on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
