Letter: Spellios Can Lead Changes in Swampscott

The latest letter related to Swampscott's upcoming election.

Dear Editor,

I am writing to show my support and to urge others to join me in supporting Peter Spellios who is running for Board of Selectmen in Swampscott. I have known Peter’s family for a little over five years with our children both attending Hadley. I will admit I was completely unaware that Peter was even running for Selectman until about two weeks ago, but was very pleased to find out he was. This town has needed some important changes and I really think that Peter will be the person to help lead those changes.

Peter has served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and has been a Town Meeting member for years. His legal experience, his hard work in Swampscott and dedication to the people and the town will make him a wonderful Selectman.

We truly have a wonderful little town, with residents I respect and admire. We have an incredible public service team in our Police, Fire and Public Works and an amazing group of teachers and educators. Those that know me, know that although I am not a quiet person, I’ve always kept my head low when it comes to politics and I tend to just go with the flow and hope for the best. However, the myriad of issues around Hadley’s building and the realization that the town so desperately needs new blood, new ideas and new goals has led me to try and help the town wherever I can. It is what has led myself, as well as many other parents this year to run for Town Meeting this election.

I’ve been a resident for 16 years and count Peter and his wife, Rebecca, friends. I am proud to support him and hope that you will make your voice heard and help Swampscott move forward on Election Day and vote for Peter Spellios for Selectman along with me.
