Letter: Spellios is the Right Person for Swampscott

I got to know Peter Spellios last year when Jack Beerman and I volunteered for the Swampscott Charter Review Committee. Peter is the Chair of this Committee and has been nothing less than an insightful leader. One of the points of consideration of the review is the deadlines and processes that are in place between the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator, Finance Committee, and Capital Improvements Committee. We have had several meetings either with these Committees or discussions regarding their concerns. Peter has spent considerable time understanding the complexities between these Committees, the Selectmen, and the Town Administrator. The knowledge Peter has gained has driven him to the idea of becoming a larger -- and better -- part of the process. I believe Peter wants to see himself as part of the solution – to have the ability to be a key leader moving forward with better understanding to allow for smoother transitions of information and operations. I am happy to see that he realizes that he could be extremely helpful to the town by serving as a member of the Board of Selectman. Peter looks forward to working with our town organizational bodies to ensure that information is shared among all so that the best decisions can be made after proper, careful, and appropriate considerations.

There are many wonderful, hard-working, and dedicated volunteers in this town. It’s time to have them all working together so that agreements can be reached. Disagreements will be had but, in the end, all involved will have had their say and will honestly be able to feel that the all the time and due diligence put forth was worthy of the outcome. With that being said, I sincerely believe that Peter Spellios is the person to take on this charge. Keep yourself informed, ask questions and I know if you don’t already, you will agree that Peter Spellios should be the next new member of the Board of Selectman.
