MA Most Wanted Fugitive Found Hiding In NJ Apartment: Police

Jeffrey Baby Lopez, 28, is a career criminal wanted in connection to a violent kidnapping and a drive-by shooting.

LYNN, MA — A career criminal wanted in connection to a violent kidnapping and a drive-by shooting was found early Tuesday morning hiding in a Newark, N.J. apartment. Jeffrey Baby Lopez, 28, was one of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section's Top 10 Most Wanted.

Lopez was wanted on five warrants for a litany of charges including two counts of armed robbery and two counts of kidnapping. Along with co-defendants, Lopez allegedly kidnapped, pistol whipped, assaulted, and robbed two people over several hours in Lynn in Jan. 2017.

Lopez was also recently charged in an Oct. 2016 drive-by shooting in Lynn.

Lopez is believed to be part of the Deuce Boys street gang. His lengthy rap sheet includes convictions for possession of a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, drug dealing, and more.

Lopez has been on the Top 10 Most Wanted list since September. He was tracked through the Northeast by the FBI, Mass. State Police, the Lynn Police Gang Task Force, and US Marshals. He was captured Tuesday by US Marshals of the NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.
