North Shore Man Wanted To Slit Baby's Throat After Taking Her From Laundromat: Prosecution

A Lynn man who allegedly walked out of a laundromat with a 1-year-old told police he meant to kill her, prosecutors said.

LYNN, MA — A Lynn man who is accused of walking out a laundromat with a woman's a 1-year-old Tuesday told police he wanted to slit the baby's throat, prosecutors said Wednesday. Precious Chigbue was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing in two weeks. He appeared in Lynn District Court in a hoodie.

Lt. Michael Kmiec confirmed to the Lynn Item Tuesday that Chigbue made "alarming statements" to officers and investigators. In court Wednesday, prosecutors said he told police he wanted to "slit [the] throat" of the 1-year-old. "He just had the thought," prosecutors said, according to Fox 25's Jason Law.

Chigbue was stopped outside the Washington Street laundromat by a witness and the mother, WHDH reports.

Chigbue's cousin, Emeka Iloba, told WHDH Chigbue "has a history of mental illness."
