Community Corner
New Organization Spurs Community Involvement
Over 200 people came out for SPUR's family fun day.
Late last month, 227 members of the community came out to Glabicky Field in Marblehead for an afternoon of backyard games, giant Jenga, large scale memory matching & tic-tac-toe, face painting, balloon animals, arts & crafts, music and more.
The event was a celebration and way to connect the community for SPUR, a 100 percent volunteer-led charitable organization established to inspire good deeds, connect the community, and provide opportunities for youth to learn.
The organization is based in Marblehead, and also helps family and youth in Salem and Swampscott.

In addition to connecting the community after a busy summer, the event also served as an opportunity to raise operating capital to cover supply costs for volunteer activities over the coming year.
Run by a team of dedicated volunteers, all monies raised will go directly to carrying out SPUR’s mission of inspiring good deeds, mobilizing volunteers, connecting the community and providing opportunities for youth to learn.

Approaching their 1st birthday, SPUR looks forward to diving deeper into the community and surrounding area, connecting volunteers to needs and finding ways to engage busy individuals and youth in simple good deeds.
SPUR would like to give a special thanks to the community members who came out or mailed in tax- deductible donations to help support them.
Additional thanks went to the generous sponsors, who without, Family Fun Day would not have been so much fun.
