The Newport Music Festival July 8-24 presents 60 concerts featuring over 100 international artists on stages throughout Newport.
The renowned Newport Music Festival will commence its 48th season on July 8 with the critically-acclaimed conductor-less orchestra A Far Cry. Over 17 days the festival will present 60 classical music concerts featuring over 100 artists from around the globe, on the stages of Newport’s famous Gilded Age Mansions and beyond. Festival highlights include the North American debut of the revolutionary Bogányi Piano, starring acclaimed Hungarian pianist Gergely Bogányi, on July 9 and 14; the Newport debuts of the Vienna Piano Trio July 11, violinist Diego Tosi at the new 40 1° North July 19, and trombonist Achilles Liarmakopoulos of the Canadian Brass July 20; and the premier of renowned pianist, storyteller and leading authority on American Popular Song Richard Glazier’s PBS show, “From Broadway to Hollywood,” live on July 21.
From Bach to Bernstein to world premieres by established and emerging composers, as well as rare discoveries of forgotten minor masterpieces, the festival offers something for everyone, even those just looking for a magical experience at the edge of the world.
