There are many readers who come into the library looking for that “new” author, they are tired of the “same old, same old”. Yet, we do find that most of our readers are happiest with our oldies but goodies. Three such authors have published books that are on a waiting list right now, Lisa Gardner, J.A. Jance and Vince Flynn.

Gardner’s Catch Me is a DD Warren story. DD is a Boston detective who has just had a new baby and is in the process of learning how to balance her personal life with her career. DD is faced with dealing with the case of Charlene Rosalind Carter Grant who tells her that she is afraid that someone is going to try to kill her. It seems that every year at the same time and the same date, one of Charlene’s childhood friends has been murdered. Now she is the lone survivor of this group. DD must try to solve the mystery of who is the killer. Gardner leads the reader along and one feels that they have solved the mystery until she throws a curve into the mix. Catch Me is in keeping with Lisa Garner’s other books, very readable.
Vince Flynn’s ex CIA star Mitch Rapp is back in business in Kill Shot. Mitch has set out to kill every person who was responsible for the Pan Am Lockerbie plane crash. He is, of course, suppose to do this without leaving any trace of who the murderer was. Even though Mitch is commissioned to do this, those who gave him the order must disavow any knowledge of what has happened. Mitch, as usual, is on his own and must depend solely on himself to get out of any situation. This is non-stop action novel which is constantly off the shelf at the library.

The third novel that is flying off the shelf is Left for Dead by J.A. Jance. This novel is an Ali Reynolds book. Ali is called to the bedside of her friend, Santa Cruz deputy sheriff Jose Reyes. Jose had been gunned down and left to die. There are those who are intimating that he was involved in drug trafficking. Ali knows better and sets out to prove her friend’s innocence. While trying to solve this problem, she is faced with another. Her friend Sister Anselm is trying to help an unidentified young woman who is presumed to be an illegal alien. Sister Anselm seeks out Ali to help find justice for this woman who was savagely beaten and raped. Ali must try to uncover clues to help her solve each of these cases. This is a fast paced book which I’m sure fans of Jance will truly enjoy.
