Olympic Style Rowing Camp Comes to North Shore via Specialty Camp Chebacco and Camp Menorah
(Essex, MA) Camp Chebacco, the specialty camp arm of Camp Menorah announced the first north shore offered crew rowing camp for ages 8 and older. The week long camp, scheduled for July 7 -11, will teach campers how to maneuver a single person rowing shell.
Camp Menorah added crew rowing as an activity to the wide range of boating activities last summer. Several campers caught onto the sport quickly. Camp Director Judi Simmons realized opportunities are abundant for qualified rowers to get out on the water through clubs located in Boston, the North Shore and Merrimack Valley, but instruction for children under high school age on the north shore was quite limited, or even non-existent, therefore added a specialty camp offering for this summer.

Camp Menorah will continue to offer crew as an activity for age appropriate campers, in addition to offering the specialty camp. The camp also plans to offer a day for community members to try out the shells. The boats, on loan from To The Water, LTD., have been used to help start rowing programs in Boston, Cambridge, Hull, Hingham, East Boston and Weston. The boats launch from the beach area of Camp Menorah, located on Chebacco Lake in Essex.
