St. John's of Swampscott Announces CYO Basketball Try-Outs for the 2012-2013 Season
The oldest youth sports organization in Swampscott begins its 59th season.
St. John's of Swampscott announces that basketball tryouts for this year's 5th-and 6th-grade Bantams(4th graders are also welcome) and 7th-and 8th-grade Cadets Girls and Boys teams will be held one day only, on Saturday, Oct. 27th, at the Swampscott Middle School located at 207 Forest Avenue. All those wishing to try-out must pre register on-line at www.swampscottcyo.org. The schedule is as follows:
Boys Bantams (grades 5 and 6).....2:00-3:00pm
Girls Bantams (grades 5 and 6).....3:00-4:00pm
Boys Cadets (grades 5 and 6).......4:00-5:00pm
Girls Cadets (grades 7 and 8).......5:00-6:00pm
CYO plays a 14- to 18-game schedule beginning in late November and finishing with the state tournament in March. The organization differentiates itself from other grade level leagues and competes with multi-grade level teams.
This season, Joe Caponigro will coach the Girls Cadet team and Jody Watts will coach the Girls Bantam team. On the Boys side, Ed Thurman will coach the Boys Cadets and Mike Cassidy will coach the Boys Bantams. For more information, contact Ted Kennedy via e-mail at Ted.Kennedy@swampscottcyo.org.
