The CYO basketball program in Swampscott began in 1953 and is the oldest youth sports organization in Swampscott. Our home games and practices are held at the Swampscott Middle School. CYO plays a 14-18 game schedule finishing with the state tournament in March. Teams include St.Adelaide’s and St. John’s of Peabody. St. Mary’s, St. Pius, and Sacred Heart of Lynn. St. Joseph, St. Francis, and St. Rafael of Medford. St. Johns of Winthrop, Blessed Sacrament of Saugus, Our Lady of Assumption in Lynnfield, St Thomas of Nahant and St. Mary’s of Winchester. The Bantam team is comprised of children under age 13 and greater than age 9 as of 12/31/15. The Cadet team is comprised of 7th and 8th grade players, under age 15 and greater than age 11 as of 12/31/15. This type of set-up most closely resembles the current High School Basketball combined grade level teams. CYO basketball provides the best opportunity for success in this type of environment.
If you are interested in coaching, we have openings at the Boys Bantam for both head and assistants, as well as assistant coaches at most other levels. For further information, contact Ted Kennedy via e-mail at Ted.Kennedy@swampscottcyo.org
