MARBLEHEAD, MA — State Rep. Jenny Armini told Patch she is looking forward to work on issues specific to her coastal constituency of Lynn, Marblehead and Swampscott as part of her committee assignments as a first-term representative in the 193rd session.

Armini was appointed to the Environment & Natural Resources, Higher Education, Global Warming and Climate Change and Steering, Policy & Scheduling committees.

"These assignments offer a tremendous opportunity to shape environmental policy at a critical juncture for the 8th Essex District and the entire Commonwealth," she told Patch. "Marblehead, Swampscott, and Lynn are coastal gems, rich in natural resources. The negative impact of climate change on these communities, and every community, demands we continue to build on what the legislature accomplished last session."

Armini told Patch the week she was sworn in as part of the newest legislative class that coastal climate issues would be among her primary focuses on Beacon Hill, along with housing and education.

"I look forward to partnering with my colleagues to secure our coastline," Armini said, "advance effective climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and promote environmental protection and preservation. I will also be working hard to amplify the voices and
concerns of those living in environmental justice communities like Lynn.

"Higher education is the engine that keeps the Massachusetts innovation economy the envy of the world. It is also what propels young people into the middle class and beyond. Ensuring that all students who want the chance have it, without bankrupting their futures, is something I look forward to tackling this session."

As part of the Steering, Policy & Scheduling Committee, Armini will help House Speaker Ron Mariano set the legislative agenda for this session.
