Swampscott Abbott Park Swings To Close For 6-Week Renovation
The swing safety upgrades are part of a state-funded upgrade and rehabilitation project for the park.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The swing section of Abbott Park will be closed for about six weeks as part of an upgrade and rehabilitation project for the park.
The renovation will use funds from the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs PARC Grant Program.
The swing section closure will begin Monday and run through Aug. 18 and is necessary to make safety and enjoyment improvements to the swings.

Worn-out swings will be replaced, structural components will be repaired, new safety surfacing will be installed and general maintenance will take place.
"We apologize for any inconvenience caused and ask for the public's understanding and cooperation during this period," town officials said. "We strongly advise park visitors to adhere to all posted signs and refrain from accessing the closed-off area for their safety.
