Swampscott Faces Planned National Grid Outage
National Grid said service improvements are expected to cause a three-hour outage in parts of town early next Friday.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Parts of Swampscott are expected to lose power early Friday during a planned National Grid outage tied to electrical system improvements.
National Grid notified the town that the outage is scheduled from approximately 1 a.m. to 4 a.m.
The outage will affect portions of Swampscott while crews perform improvements to the electrical system. The town said a map identifies the general areas expected to be impacted, and National Grid's notification includes a full list of affected streets.

Residents in the affected areas are being asked to prepare in advance. Residents with sensitive electronic equipment may want to shut down devices during the outage and restart them after power is restored.
People who rely on electrically powered medical or life-support equipment are encouraged to make sure backup systems or alternate arrangements are in place.
