Swampscott Farmers Market Gate Swings Open Sunday
Come to Swampscott High, 200 Essex St., on Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm for the first ever Swampscott Farmers Market.
A cow bell's clang will signal the opening of the Swampscott Farmers Market on Sunday at 10 am. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 pm.
Vendors will sell fresh produce, bread, flowers and fish. They will sell crafts. And musicians will play in the open air, said Recreation Director Danielle Strauss.

Anchoring the market, Swampscott will have Clark Farm providing a large variety of produce, as well as John Crow Farms bringing produce, meats and poultry. Other vendors include Maitland Mountain Farms (known for their pickles and flowers), Fille de Ferme (producer of homemade jams and jellies), Cherry Street Fish Market, Big Sky Breads, and more.
“The Swampscott Farmers Market will offer residents of Swampscott and the surrounding area a chance to catch up with neighbors and purchase fresh produce directly from local growers,” say market co-managers Rob Chavez and Kimberley Fillenworth. “This is our first year. We are excited to connect our community to our local producers. The more community support, the more successful the market will be.”
The recreation director said the market organizers' many hours of work in and out of regular meetings made the market possible this season.
