Swampscott Garden Art Walk Returns For 2024 After One-Year Hiatus

This year's event will take place on June 29 at more than 50 locations across the town.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Swampscott Garden Art Walk showcasing the rich diversity of artists, gardens, businesses and neighbors across the town will return for 2024 after a one-year hiatus.

The ReachArts event is a blend of self-guided garden walks, open studios and enrichment activities. The theme of this year's event is "Creativity and Community" and will include more than 50 gardens with artists and musicians across public and private locations.

There will be shuttle vans provided by the town to help attendees get to all locations and five designated Garden Art Walk parking locations.

Art Walk maps will be on the ReachArts website with printed maps, raffle opportunities and activities at the ReachArts office at 89 Burrill Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the day of the event. There will also be a kickoff event at the Swampscott Senior Center with maps, raffles, lawn games, art activities and refreshments from 11 a.m. to noon.

More than $2,000 worth of raffle items have been donated by local businesses, including Coastal Collective Art & Gifts, Delamar Hotels, Lowe's, and Staples. Attending the event is free with donations accepted.

Other Garden Art Walk highlights include:

  • Swampscott High Point Program art activity and highlighting of their raised bed gardens.
  • SURE Diversity holding a "Tell Us Your Story" activity inviting residents to share short stories about their ancestors.
  • Deb Newman holding discussions about "How to live harmoniously with wildlife."
  • The Swampscott Conservancy sharing information on Pollinator Gardens.
  • The Swampscott Police Department Bike Helmet display for local youth.
  • The Swampscott Fire Department will showcase a surprise Garden Art Display.
  • Seaside Cooperative Garden will be making art prints with leaves and flowers next door to the Police Station.
  • Plein air painting demonstrations and music will be held in the Olmsted Lilac Gardens.
