Swampscott Halloween Pumpkin Composting Event Planned
Residents are encouraged to drop off their pumpkins for composting rather than place them in the trash.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott residents are encouraged to allow their Halloween pumpkins and Jack-O'-Lanterns to rest in pieces following this year's holiday by composting them instead of throwing them in the trash.
Black Earth Composting will collect the suddenly sagging signs of the season at the Department of Public Works Yard on Paradise Road on Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Those bringing pumpkins for composting are asked to remove any artificial decorations — however, pain and glitter can remain.
