Swampscott High Interim Principal Named
A familiar face will be taking over for Robert Murphy during his medical leave.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Former Swampscott High Principal Lawrence Murphy will take over as interim principal of the high school. The move, effective Friday, was announced by Superintendent Pamela Angelakis in an email. He will work 2-3 days a week at the school on a per-diem basis.
Murphy is filling for Robert Murphy, who is on medical leave scheduled to end April 13.
Lawrence Murphy has four decades of educational experience, including a stint as principal of Swampscott High from 2006-09. He was also district-wide curriculum coordinator for a year. He retired as principal of West Boylston Middle High School in 2015.

"Larry’s extensive experience and familiarity with our district make him an excellent choice to fill a void at
Swampscott High," Angelakis said.
Lawrence Murphy was named the Bertram H. Holland Principal of the Year by the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators Association in 2014.
