Swampscott High Ranked Among Top 50 High Schools in Greater Boston

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott students returned to school Wednesday — and they can take comfort in knowing Swampscott High School is one of the best in the state.

Boston Magazine ranked Swampscott High No. 39 in its survey of Greater Boston public high schools. The survey was based on test scores, student-teacher ratios, class sizes, and graduation rates, among other factors.

Of North Shore schools, Swampscott was ranked fifth:

• Manchester-Essex Regional High School: 14
• Lynnfield High School: 27
• Marblehead High School: 33
• Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School: 36
• Swampscott High School: 39
• Peabody Veterans Memorial High School: 85
• Beverly High School: 99
• Salem High School: 112

Swampscott High's statistics:

• Enrollment: 700
• Average class size: 16
• Student-teacher ratio: 11.7 to 1
• Graduation rate: 96.7 percent

Dover-Sherborn Regional High School was ranked No. 1 on the survey.
