Our own Sydney took the first pitch from fellow softball player Lauryn. And Luke did the same for baseball, taking a pitch from little 3-year-old GianLuca.

The following is a message from President Joe Ford:

Dear Swampscott Little League:

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for making our annual parade a success. A lot of effort was put in to this event, and it really was special to see the joy in the kids faces as they marched together to open the 2015 season.

As you all saw, I got very emotional when I spoke. Leading up to this day, I was hesitant to speak because I knew that would be the outcome. However, as President, I felt it was my duty to address all of you. I have a vision for Little League. That vision is to make this part of kids lives as special as it was for me growing up.

Other than spending time with my wife and four kids, there is nothing that I love more than being on the ballfield with your kids. Seeing them make their first catch or getting their first hit is such a great experience. Then seeing them progress throughout their Little League careers is really special. I’ve met so many nice people along the way and see youth sports as a great family experience.

Rest assured that, as President, I will continue to do my best to ensure that our time together in Little League yields positive results that will last a lifetime. Our current Board and coaches is comprised of a lot of dedicated people who are working hard to make difference. Please take a moment to thank them for volunteering their time.

Thank you for allowing me to hold this position. It is a great honor for me.

Now let’s Play Ball!!!
