Swampscott/ Marblehead Sr Legion starts out 2-1
Fortified by strong pitching and defense the Senior American Legion baseball team is off to a good start.
Swampscott/Marblehead Sr Legion opened up the 2013 season with a win vs a very tough North Andover squad.
Leading the way for the Swamp/ Mhead team was Sean O'Brien ( Salem State) who recorded 10 strike outs no walks and three infield hits. Offensively Swampscott was lead by Brian Burke (Fenwick) single, double, Connor Green and Casey Stead each scored a run as did O'Brien.
Defensively the Swamp/Head team has one of the areas top catchers in Colton Dana (Deerfield Academy Trinity College) and the infield tandem of Casey Stead (Bridgton Academy) and Connor Green are second to none add Brian Burke and Bradon Engstrom (Michigan) at the corners.

The outfield play of Robert Serino, Jake Cassidy (Lawrence Academy), Kyle Waters, and Cory Carmody, Mike Lan and Trey Blackmer has been outstanding so far.
Swampscott will also add Trevor Massey (Tilton and BC ) to the infield mix once he returns from an AAU showcase.

Swamp/Head was back at it on Sunday 6/16 vs Andover Swamp/Head snuck away with a win 2-1 at Andover who is always very tough.
O'Brien was back on the hill, once again pitching a complete game gem. O'Brien threw a complete game two hitter with no walks and two strike outs (fourteen innings with no walks). Once again Casey Stead and Connor Green where flawless in the middle infield as was the outfield play of Jake Cassidy, Corey Carmody, Kyle Waters, Mike Lan and Trey Blackmer.
O'Brien kept the Andover batters off balance for most of the night causing many fly balls to the outfield. Colton Dana showed his arm strength off by gunning down an Andover Runner in the fifth. Brian Burke was very solid at third base. Offensively Jake Cassidy, Sean O'Brien, Bradon Engstom, Corey Carmody and Casey Stead all had timely hits.

Swamp/Head had to forfeit Saturday night vs Haverhill.
Swamp/Head plays a doubleheader Saturday at Danvers starting at 3:00 and Sunday vs Newburyport 5:00 away.
