Swampscott 'Missing' Swimmer Report Proves Unfounded

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Coast Guard crews searched the waters off Swampscott Monday after receiving a report of a missing swimmer that turned out to be unfounded. The search started at about 8:45 a.m. after a passerby called police and said he believed he saw a swimmer go under the water. A Coast Guard boat and the Marblehead harbormaster searched the area for hours but found nothing. Police later made contact with the swimmer, who was on land and safe.
