For well over three decades, Fortune has regularly packed venues throughout New England. With a reputation for smooth three and four part vocal harmonies, dynamic and melodic textures of multiple guitars and keyboards, and tight rhythm section, they are the embodiment of the music and artists that define Classic Rock. A Fortune show always features the type of songs that “bands don’t try to cover” such as Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, Foreplay/Longtime by Boston, or Won’t Get Fooled again by The Who, as well as many others ranging from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to Journey and Yes! The band also has two albums of original compositions – 1993’s FORTUNE and 1996’s STORYLINE, both originally released in Japan.
Over the years, Fortune has been privileged to open for national acts such as Cheap Trick, Kansas, Dave Mason, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Robin Trower, Bad Company, Blue Oyster Cult, The Guess Who, Ben Orr, America, and Jefferson Starship. As of September 5, 2026, Renzo’s New York-style pizza has found a new home at the Swampscott Center for the Performing Arts, bringing authentic New York-style pizza to the North Shore community.
The Swampscott Center for the Performing Arts has partnered with Renzo to offer its delicious pizza for both dine-in and takeout, Tuesday through Sunday from 5PM. To place an order during those hours, call <a href="tel:781-595-0001" target="_blank">781-595-0001</a>&nbsp;
Johnny Ray, speaking about the new partnership, said, “This is one of the nicest things that could have happened to our venue. Having another great thing like this to offer the community is exactly why we are doing this."&nbsp;
Maria’s Cafe is already serving guests at the cafe out front, and the addition of Renzo’s pizza provides another dining option for visitors. Together, the offerings are part of the venue’s vision of becoming a premiere dining, entertainment, and performing arts destination.
“Maria is already doing an amazing job with Maria’s Cafe out front, and now we can offer Renzo pizza on a daily basis as well," Ray said. “It’s a perfect addition for what we plan on offering at large and a symbol of our intent on becoming a family friendly gathering place for the entire community."
Meanwhile, the venue is continuing to round out its full menu for the Dory Showroom and offering catering for all of their private events. In the meantime, the doors are open, and everyone is welcome to stop in, enjoy a meal or cocktail, take in the spectacular North Shore views, and see what’s happening at the venue.
With great food, cocktails, entertainment, and what Ray calls “the most amazing view on the North Shore,” the Swampscott Center for the Performing Arts is inviting the community to come experience everything it has to offer.

Celebrating 40 years, ‘Reggae Ambassadors’, THIRD WORLD is one of the longest-lived Reggae bands of all time, and one of Jamaica’s most consistently popular crossover acts among international audiences. Mixing in elements of R&amp;B, funk, pop, and rock and, later on, dancehall and rap, Third World’s style has been described as “reggae-fusion”. Singer Bunny Rugs described the band’s sound: “Strictly a reggae band, no. Definitely a reggae band, yes.” Guitarist Cat Coore said of their music: “The hybrid of various types of music is a natural thing because, by growing up in Jamaica, we know the direct roots of reggae and ska. At the same time we live in a country where you get to hear Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and all the R &amp; B artists.” Bassist Richard Daley said, “We took roots reggae music and put branches on top of it”.
The genesis of Third World was originally formed in 1973 by guitarist/cellist Steven “Cat” Coore, keyboardist Michael “Ibo” Cooper, drummer Carl Barovier and singer Milton “Prilly” Hamilton all of Inner Circle, along with bassist Colin “Oliver” Leslie. Tomorrows Children bass guitarist, Richard Daley soon replaced Colin Leslie and Leslie teamed up with Darren Green to manage and organize the group. After a few months, Barovier was replaced by Cornell Marshall, and the group made its live debut that year at Jamaica’s independence celebration. They played in and around the Kingston club scene and on the hotel scene island wide, making a name for themselves as one of the few fully self-contained bands around. With 10 Grammy nominations and catalogue of charted hits spanning four decades, Third World accolades include, the 1986 United Nations Peace Medal, 1992 and 1996 Jamaica Music Industry Awards for Best Show Band, New York City Ambassador Award in November 2009 at Brooklyn Academy of Music (“BAM”), 2011 Excellence in Music at the Atlanta Caribbean Festival, numerous awards and accolades from Martin’s International Reggae and World Music Awards, in 2012 William Clark was awarded Ambassador at Caribbean American Heritage Awards in Washington DC, “The Art of Reggae Music” award for 40 years of quality music and dedication at the 2013 staging of Jamaica Jazz and Blues in Montego Bay, the Keys to the Cities of Atlanta and Key West, National Black Arts Award of Merit 2013 and more.
