Swampscott Resident Honored As Salem State Distinguished Alumna

SALEM, MA — A Swampscott resident and Salem business owner has been honored as Salem State's Distinguished Alumna for 2022.
Chrysoula Hatzis Varvounis, a 1993 graduate with a degree in business administration, was chosen for her outstanding professional accomplishments. Varvounis owns Bean, Hatzis & Fultz, a tax preparation and accounting services firm that helps small businesses and individuals improve cash flow and net income by identifying, analyzing and implementing financial solutions.
"Helping people increase their profitability and business efficiency in the Salem and surrounding communities is something I'm truly passionate about," Varvounis said. "I thank Salem State for recognizing my commitment to the region and its residents, and I'm honored to receive this distinguished award."

The Dr. Marilyn E. Flaherty Distinguished Alumna/us Award is given to a former Salem State student who has made a name for themself after graduation.
"For over 30 years, Chrys has had an impact on our community by providing close personal and professional attention to those who need financial guidance," said Mike Mitchell, associate director of alumni relations. "We are proud to call Chrys a Viking."
