Swampscott Resident Named Vice President of Investment Group

His responsibilities will include managing portfolios and setting investment policy.

Rockland Trust today announced Matthew Roddy has joined its Investment Management Group (IMG) as vice president and portfolio manager. Serving the Greater Boston area, Roddy brings more than 15 years of experience to the IMG team. 

“This is an exciting time for Rockland Trust, and the Investment Management Group in particular, as we officially enter Boston for the first time,” said David Smith, chief investment officer at Rockland Trust.  “Matthew will be invaluable in growing our new office, and attracting and maintaining clients throughout the Greater Boston area.”

In his new position, Roddy will be responsible for managing client portfolios, performing securities research, and setting investment policy, while establishing and growing the bank’s first investment office in Boston, a market where he has worked for the past 15 years.

Prior to joining Rockland Trust, he was a senior vice president, market investment director, and portfolio manager with United States Trust Company, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, where he managed $1.6 billion in assets for high net-worth families and small institutions.  Previously he was a financial consultant with Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. and Salomon Smith Barney.

Roddy is a CFA charterholder (CFA), certified trust financial advisor (CTFA), and chartered alternative investment analyst (CAIA).  He is a graduate of the American Bankers Association Graduate Trust School at Emory University, and earned a bachelor’s degree in health policy and management from Providence College, where he remains an active member of the Boston Alumni Society.
