Swampscott Sets Hearing On Communter Rail District, Zoning Changes

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott residents and community members are being invited to weigh in on proposed zoning changes, including standards for a Commuter Rail 40R Smart Growth District, at an upcoming public hearing.

The Swampscott Planning Board announced the hearing for Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at Swampscott High School, Room B129, 200 Essex St. Hybrid participation will also be available.

The hearing is focused on proposed district standards and zoning bylaw changes tied to the Commuter Rail 40R Smart Growth District. The board is asking for public feedback on "what type and style of development" residents would like to see in the district.

Topics listed for discussion include building height and density, neighborhood design, housing and mixed-use development, commercial uses, parking and transportation, landscaping and public spaces.

Other covered proposed zoning updates include changes related to state law compliance, commercial space, outdoor seating, commercial landscaping, the Burrill Senior Center Planned Development District and building height measurement.
