Swampscott Students Honored At BU, Florida State, Holy Cross, RIT, WPI

These Swampscott students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — These Swampscott students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction at colleges, universities and schools across the nation.

On May 14, Ethan Davis, who majored in Aerospace Engineering, was bestowed a Bachelor's Degree at WPI's 153rd Commencement.

Nearly 1,200 undergraduate degrees were awarded during the university's 153rd commencement ceremony. This undergraduate ceremony marked the first time the entire class and their family and friends were able to gather together for an in-person ceremony since 2019.

The following Swampscott students were named to the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the spring 2022 semester:

Nicholas Parsons in the mechanical engineering program.

Springfield College named Margaret Barden to the Dean's List for academic excellence for the 2022 spring semester.

Barden has a primary major of Sport Management.

Emma Tomlins was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2022 semester at Hamilton College.

To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

Tomlins, a rising senior majoring in history, is a graduate of Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School.

Mary Viner earned Dean's List honors at The University of Tampa for the spring 2022 semester. Viner was a freshman majoring in Nursing BSN-PRE. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the Dean's List.

The following students were named to the Lasell College Dean's List in recognition of their spring 2022 academic performance: Lauren Barbuzzi and Tania Shadari.

Barbuzzi graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion and Retail Merchandising.

Barbuzzi was also part of the University's School of Fashion annual RUNWAY production, held from May 6-7.

Barbuzzi was RUNWAY's behind-the-scenes team leader and was part of the promotions team.

RUNWAY 2022: Reimagined featured 70 student designers and 150 behind-the-scenes personnel. This marked the first year since 2019 that RUNWAY was held fully in-person, though the show was also made available virtually through a livestream.

Shadari presented at the institution's annual Connected Learning Symposium.

Shadari presented "Dialogue on Global Identity," in which they shared reflections on novels by authors from South Africa, India, the Caribbean, and Americas that focus on pluralistic identities.

The presentation incorporated the NACE competency of equity and inclusion.

Christopher Legere earned a bachelor of arts degree Magna Cum Laude from the College of the Holy Cross.

Legere is among 755 graduating seniors Holy Cross celebrated at its 176th Commencement held in person on Friday, May 27 at the DCU Center in Worcester. Acclaimed writer and infectious disease physician Abraham Verghese delivered this year's address to the Class of 2022 and received an honorary degree.

The following students have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2022 semester at the University of Vermont:

Maeve Begin, a Health Sciences major, is in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Owen Neilan, a Neuroscience major, is in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Greta Wright, a Health Sciences major, is in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Jacob McIntire, Alannah Biancusso and Mallory Kessler earned their degrees at the University of New Hampshire commencement ceremonies on May 20, 21, and 22.

Samantha Conti and Luke Marshall were among the 561 students, including 532 undergraduate and 29 graduate degree recipients, processed at Stonehill College's 71st Commencement on May 22.

Ashley Wilcox of Swampscott was named to Southern New Hampshire University's winter 2022 President's List.

Lucas Cote graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance degree.

Naomi Culliton earned a spot on Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences Dean's List for Spring 2022. To qualify for the BU Dean's List, a student must complete 15 class credits with a GPA of at least 3.5.

Isabella Perault was named to the College of the Holy Cross spring 2022 Dean's List. A member of the Class of 2024, Perault was among more than 1,457 students named to the Dean's List.
